The Malcolm X Assassination
Malcolm X, born as Malcolm Little in Omaha, Nebraska. He was an indirect victim of racists acts, because his father and uncle were killed or lynched by white supremacists. This caused his mother to go into mental shutdown, which earned her a place in a mental hospital and Malcolm in foster houses. He was jailed when he was twenty for breaking and entering, but when he got out he join the Nation of Islam. Twelve years passed after, Malcolm left the Nation because of the Nations strict religious teachings. After becoming a very sought after man, the leader of the Nation, out of jealousy, threatened Malcolm in private and in public. Eventually, Malcolm was assassinated by the Nation, and questions about a controversial death were raised. The FBI question the lack of police and the fact that the police didn't preserve the crime scene.

Medgar Evers was an African American civil rights activist who was aiding in the desegregation of the University of Mississippi. He was a World War II veteran, so when he died he was buried with full military honor. Assassinated on June 12, 1963 by Bryon De La Beckwith. Beckwith was a white supremacist with the White Citizen's Council. Evers was a target of white supremacists because of his work in boycotting and movement organization. Returning from a meeting with NAACP lawyers, Evers got out of his car after parking in his driveway and was shot with an Enfield rifle from World War I and later died at a hospital. Beckwith was arrested and tried for the murder of Evers but the jury could not reach a verdict. Beckwith was later tried on the same case on account of new evidence 30 years later. He was rightfully convicted of murder and sent to prison where he died at age 80.

The black panthers were a civil rights organization, founded in 1966, that didn't agree with Martin Luther King's non-violent beliefs. They believed non violent acts would take too long to get minority groups what they wanted, and wished for "Revolutionary War" in which they would use violence to reach their desired 10 point goal plan.

The Watts Riots
The Watts riots were a six day travesty that cost about forty million dollars in property damage. The took place in California in Watts, an African American neighborhood. The riots started after Marquette Frye was arrested by a white Californian Highway Patrol officer, A group of spectators were disturbed by the arrest and started rioting through the neighborhood.

On March 7, 1965, state troopers attacked civil rights demonstrators on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The demonstrators were marching for black voter registration and protesting the killing a young black man. Troopers advised that the demonstrators disperse but when the did not move, the troopers charged with their nightsticks and also fired tear gas. The injustice became known as Bloody Sunday but was counting as a civil rights success since eight days after, President Johnson passed the Bill that would come to be known as the Civil Rights Act of 1965.
